The rhinoceros family is characterized by its big size (one of the largest remaining megafauna alive currently ), with all of the species adept to strech one ton or more in weight; herbivorous diet; and a thick protecting skin, 1.5–5 cm thick, formed from layers of collagen positioned in a lattice structure; comparatively small wits for mammals this size (400–600g ); & a large horn. They in all eat leafy tangible , nonetheless their capability to perturbation food in their hindgut enables them to subsist on more fibrous plant matter , if required . Unlike alternative perissodactyls, the African class of rhinoceros lack teeth at the front of their mouths, relying inplace on their powerful premolar & molar teeth to grind up plant food
